Introduction: The Book of James is one of the General Epistles: James, 1&2 Peter, 1,2&3 John, and Jude. They are general-universal-catholic because they are all addressed to a multitude-with the exception of 2&3 John. Although debate has been made about which James wrote this Book of James it is normally considered James the half-brother of Jesus wrote the book. The author is exciting and full of life. There are three James mentioned associated with Jesus. James the brother of John, the sons of Zebedee; James, the son of Alphaeus; and James the brother of Jesus. The historian Josephus, provides AD 62 as the martyrdom of James, the brother of Jesus. He also notes the position of authority in the church to which he achieved. This reference on James appears to be the source of accepting the writer of James as being James the half- brother of Jesus.
